In Lent events included talks by:

The Earl of Onslow, one of the few remaining hereditary peers sitting in the upper hosue, who spoke among other things on his ideas for the reform of the House of Lords;

Andrew Robathan MP, Deputy Opposition Chief Whip, who gave a very interesting and entertaining talk about the mechanics of Parliament;

Andrew Lansley MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Health, who spoke about the NHS and what reforms a Conservative Government would bring;

Rt. Hon. Oliver Letwin MP, Chairman of the Conservative Policy review, who spoke about his work helping to modernise the Conservative Party under David Cameron.

Other events in Lent term included:

The annual Westminster Tea Party, down in London at the Houses of Parliament, where we met 19 Conservative MPs and looked around Westminster Palace before moving to a reception at the Carlton Club;

and a debate against the Cambridge University Labour Club.

Lent term’s Social events included:

The traditional Chairman’s Dinner which was held at Gonville and Caius College with Hon. Bernard Jenkin MP as our guest speaker;

The first ever CUCA Port and Cheese Party;

The Chairman’s Gin and Tonic Party!
